UCAPAN SELAMAT TAHUN BARU CINA DARI PRESIDEN MCA

YB DATO’ SRI LIOW TIONG LAI
MINISTER OF TRANSPORT, MALAYSIA
CHINESE NEW YEAR MESSAGE
16 FEBRUARY 2018

As we celebrate and welcome the new lunar year, I would like to wish all Malaysians good health, harmony, prosperity and success in all your undertakings. This is truly an auspicious occasion, bringing with it the promise of fresh opportunities, new beginnings and the chance for all of us to once again come together to create a bright future for our nation.

This past year has been a transformative one for Malaysia. Our domestic economy continues to grow at a steady pace, even as the strengthening Ringgit points to improved investor sentiment. With a myriad of nation-building projects well underway, including upgrades to our transportation infrastructure, we are on track to become a developed nation on the global stage.

Looking ahead, 2018 is certainly shaping up to be a prosperous one for the Rakyat. As always, your Barisan Nasional Government is focused on catering to the needs and welfare of Malaysians. Most notably, the reductions in income tax which was tabled during the recent Budget 2018 will provide households with greater disposable income and spending power.

In tandem, MCA too has been and will continue to be a champion for the Chinese community. We remain tireless in our efforts to provide aid and support, be it in terms of access to quality education, revitalisation of new villages, or encouraging businesses to grow. On the international front, MCA is proud to play a pivotal role in strengthening diplomatic ties with China, as Malaysia stands to benefit greatly from the China One Belt One Road initiative.

It goes without saying that 2018 is an important year for all of us. On our part, MCA looks forward to continue representing and serving the Chinese community in the Government. We are steadfast in our dedication towards our responsibilities. As a Party built on values of moderation, acceptance, mutual cooperation and progress, we believe we can continue to do our part for our nation and the Rakyat.

May this Lunar New Year be filled with goodwill, abundance and happy reunions with family and friends. To those travelling over the long weekend, be sure to drive safely and practice road safety habits.

Gong Xi Fa Cai!
